About StereoWorth
StereoWorth exists because the standard answer to "what is my old stereo worth" was a guess. Forum threads argue from memory, listicles copy each other's numbers, and the one bluebook that has real data keeps it behind a login. We thought the answer should be free, current, and honest about where it comes from.
What this site does
Every day we pull the live eBay market for more than 700 vintage models, receivers, amplifiers, turntables, speakers, tape decks, filter out the junk listings, and publish trimmed-median values with the sample sizes shown. The daily snapshots accumulate into price histories nobody else publishes for free, and everything from the market index to the head-to-head comparisons is computed from that same data. The full pipeline is documented on the methodology page, including its limitations, because a value site that hides how its numbers are made is asking you to take its word for it.
Who runs it
StereoWorth is an independent project, built and run by a collector, not a marketplace, a dealer, or a brand. We do not sell equipment, we do not take payment for placement, and no one can pay to change a number. The site earns affiliate commissions when readers click through to marketplaces and buy something, which is disclosed on every page and detailed in the affiliate disclosure. The pipeline that computes values has no knowledge of those links.
