Sansui Receiver Value Guide (2026)
Sansui built two legendary receiver lines. The numbered models (2000, 4000, 5000, 8080DB, 9090DB) came first, peaking with the 9090DB in the mid-1970s. The G-series followed, scaling up to the G-33000 at 300 watts per channel, which remains one of the most powerful consumer receivers ever built.

The 9090DB
The 9090DB is where collector demand concentrates. It's 125 watts per channel, has the Dolby B noise reduction that the standard 9090 lacks, and it looks the part. The faceplate is distinctive and the build quality is exceptional. Clean examples in working condition hold above $2,000. Restored units with documentation are regularly clearing $3,000.
The G-series monsters
The G-22000 and G-33000 are engineering statements more than practical audio equipment. The G-33000 weighs over 80 pounds and its transformer alone is the size of a large book. These sell to collectors who want the ultimate expression of the monster receiver era, not necessarily for daily listening. Values are high but the market is thin. There aren't many buyers at $10,000 for a receiver.
Common issues
The DC offset on Sansui receivers drifts as capacitors age and can damage speakers if unaddressed. Any Sansui receiver over 40 years old should have its DC offset checked before connecting good speakers. This is a 10-minute adjustment for a competent technician.
