Marantz built separate amplifiers and preamplifiers alongside its famous receivers. The vintage solid-state amplifiers from the 1970s are collected for the same reasons as the receivers: build quality, sound character, and the Marantz aesthetic. Solid state power amplifiers: Model 250, 300
The Model 250 is a 125-watt-per-channel power amplifier from 1974. It pairs naturally with the Model 3300 or 3600 preamplifier. Clean working examples list from $800 to $1,800. The Model 300 at 150 watts per channel is rarer and prices accordingly. These are pure power amplifiers with no preamp section; they need a preamplifier to function.
