Is a parts unit worth buying?

The $57 parts price is $142 less than the $199 working asking price — a 71% gap. Whether that gap covers the cost of repair depends on what's wrong.

What "for parts" usually means for a cassette deck: Cassette decks for parts usually need belts and pinch rollers (routine), or have worn heads, sticky mechanisms, or failed motor circuits (more serious). Head condition is the critical variable.
